Even as a young boy, Bob Hope had a natural talent for being funny. He was born in England in 1903, and when he was only four years old, he, along with his Mom and Dad, and his six brothers moved to America! Bob worked hard at everything he did including making up and telling jokes. He also made spending money by selling newspapers and by helping one of his big brothers in a meat market.

One thing that made Bob Hope a very special person was the way he treated other people. When he was doing what he did best, telling jokes and being funny, he was funny for everyone around him. Sometimes we see people who try to be funny by making someone else look bad or feel bad. Bob was never like that. His jokes were funny to everybody, and they never hurt anyone.

When he grew up, he became a movie star, and people watched him in a lot of very funny movies. He also appeared in many television shows telling his jokes and his funny stories.

Bob Hope is most warmly remembered for visiting American Troops overseas. He loved working for the men and women who defend our country. Sometimes when they are away in foreign countries, they can become very lonesome. Bob was always a reminder to them that the people back home really did care about them. Yes, Bob Hope was a very special HERO!
