Are there certain phrases people say that make you think, “Oh no, here we go!?” Well, that’s what I think when someone says, “I’m from the old school…,” and then proceeds to tell me how things used to be. I believe that as times change, there is always something new to learn.
But I also believe that changing times do not change right and wrong, regardless of the emotions attached and that occasionally the “old-school” concept still stands.
We find ourselves in all kinds of situations, sometimes being influenced by friends or circumstances, and we have to make choices. If your conscience tells you that what you’re considering doing is wrong, listen to it! And if your conscience doesn’t bother you, but you know that you’re about to engage in something illegal, immoral, or just plain stupid, take a long pause…and consciously consider the consequences— the price there may be to pay. When your personal integrity becomes shattered, there just isn’t a whole lot left to build on.
