The Danny Thomas Story
It was only a generation or two ago that a young person could enter his or her life’s work, practicing a trade learned as a family tradition or through an apprenticeship, and retire thirty years later doing exactly the same thing—with the exception of having advanced through the levels of responsibility.
But the job market is certainly different today! Things are changing so fast that even those who are already successful in their careers must continually update their training.
So, where does that leave young people just starting our in the working world?
Well, the key word to remember is adaptation.
It used to be that success at making a living depended on how much you knew. Now you must add to that the ability to continue learning.
Yes, times are changing, and there is no time like the present to develop a love of learning—instead of sitting in a classroom wishing you were somewhere else.
